Research Experience for Undergrads Summer Program
Utah Materials Research Science and Engineering Center (MRSEC) -Next Generation Material for Plasmonics & Organic Spintronics Summer Program. Each year, MRSEC funds up to 10 exemplary undergraduates to participate in summer research projects in the areas of Plasmonics or Organic Spintronics. Students with an interest and background in physics, chemistry, materials science, and engineering (chemical, electrical, mechanical, metallurgical) are good candidates for the MRSEC Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.
To apply, complete these steps, in this order:
1. Complete the Online Application
2. Have two academic or professional references recommend you here and submit a letter (a pdf letter can be uploaded in the form) about your abilities.
3. Arrange for your official transcripts to be sent to the Administrator listed below.
A complete application package includes submission of the online application form, two academic or professional references (via this online form) with letters of recommendation (AFTER you complete the Online Application) and official transcripts mailed directly to the Administrator (contact info. listed below) from the applicant’s university or college transcript office. Unofficial transcripts will not be reviewed.
Deadline to complete the Online Application is 11:59 pm on January 20, 2015. Deadline for recommendations and official transcripts to reach the Administrator is 11:59 pm on February 2, 2015Selected participants receive:
$4500 stipend
Student housing and meal plan on the University of Utah campus
Up to $600 toward travel expenses to and from Salt Lake City
Research experience to prepare you academically and professionally in science and engineering
Research presentation skills, technical training and professional development opportunities
