2019 Undergrad Research Fall Mixer: Poster Sign-Ups

About the Event:

Our annual research mixer brings together the campus community to support undergraduate research and to help new students discover the opportunities provided on our growing and innovative campus.  Staff from multiple departments such as advisors, career specialists, and more will table to answer specific questions to navigate the research journey including academic planning. Faculty are invited to support their undergraduate researchers and speak to undergraduates who may be interested in assist in their research. Previous UROC Scholars and other UC Merced Undergraduate Researchers (you) are welcome to share their research experience through research poster presentations. All UC Merced students who are interested in conducting research, but may need more information, are invited to network with more experienced Bobcats and gain information from the various departments in attendance.

Our hope is that no matter where an attendee may be on the continuum of experience or knowledge, all participants will leave the Undergraduate Research Fall Mixer more knowledgeable about research opportunities and the research conducted at UC Merced. 

Am I eligible to Present my Research Poster?

If you can answer YES to all of the following questions, you are eligible to present at the Fall Mixer.  Please review the poster guidelines prior to submitting this webform.

• Are you a currently enrolled undergraduate student at UC Merced?
• Do you have a research poster that is ready to be shared with the campus?
• Has your research mentor/primary investigator (PI) approved this poster and presentation?
• Are you willing to network with both faculty and other UC Merced students who may be interested in research?

Poster Guidelines

Research posters is a term used loosely since not all contain scientific information or sometimes research. Regardless of the content, the presenter's goal is to display information in a clear, concise manner while generating interest to engage in a discussion. Poster conferences usually host rows and rows of research posters, so the poster should be easily scanned by passersby with clear organization and coherent design.

Below are a few guidelines for poster creation:

• Poster dimensions should be no larger than 36” x 48” (3 feet high by 4 feet wide).
• Title at the top of the poster with authors, and acknowledgment of affiliation/programs (logo)
• Include authors from research (Presenter, graduate students, PI/Faculty Mentor)
• Approval from PI/Mentor prior to printing and presenting.
• Poster boards and posting materials will be provided.

If you neeed your poster printed by our office, the deadline to print is 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 15.
