I had the great pleasure of being able to intern in Dr. David Pollock at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) through the UROC program. Through this opportunity, I was able to get involved in Cardiac Disease reserach and learned from some of the top scientists in the field. This opportunity helped build the foundation of my career and taugh me valuable lessons on how to be a scientist. I was also awarded the possibility of presenting the findings of my research. My experience through the UROC program is the major reason I have been able to gain the opportunities I currently have with my education and career in research.
