NIH-NHLBI funded summer research program, Summer Training as Research Scholars (STaRS). We will be accepting 15 minority students who are interested in conducting biomedical research.
The Summer Training as Research Scholars (STaRS) Program is a summer internship sponsored by Boston University’s Division of Graduate Medical Sciences (GMS), a recognized leader in graduate education and research. STaRS is a dynamic and focused program that is designed specifically for the enhancement of skills required for success-ful entrance and completion of a graduate program or an MD/PhD program in the biomedical sciences. STaRS offers motivated and academically talented students a valuable opportunity to confirm a strong interest in doctoral studies particularly in the areas of heart, lung and blood research.
The program, which runs June 1 – August 7, 2015, will include not only state of the art research experience but also journal clubs, professional development workshops, and field trips to local Biotech or Pharmaceutical labs. The program will cover transportation to and from Boston, housing, and a stipend of $4,800. In addition, we will support the travel of each participant to present their research at a national meeting such as ABRCMS or SACNAS. Please see the attached flyers for additional information. Prospective students can access the application on our website (http://www.bumc.bu.edu/gms/admissions/stars/application/).
