APRIL 9 - 11, 2015
Overview
On April 9-11, 2015, IPAM will host a three day conference showcasing the achievements of Latina/os in the mathematical sciences. The conference will feature talks by junior and senior researchers, as well as events for undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. There will be plenary lectures, community lectures, panel discussions, and activities to facilitate networking. The goal of the conference is to encourage Latina/os to pursue careers in the mathematical sciences, to promote the advancement of Latina/os currently in the discipline, to showcase research being conducted by Latina/os at the forefront of their fields, and, finally, to build a community around shared academic interests.
We are accepting applications from undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent PhDs (no more than three years since completion of PhD) through February 9, 2015. Faculty members or other professional (>3 years since PhD) who do not have other sources of support may apply as well, but the majority of funding will be awarded to students. Faculty members who propose to bring a group of students will be given priority. The application requires a CV or resume and two letters of recommendation.
Successful applicants will be offered lodging support (hotel accommodations). A limited number of travel grants will be awarded to those who demonstrate exceptional need. We encourage applicants to request travel support from their institution.
Lodging
IPAM will arrange for lodging at a local hotel for applicants who are awarded funding. Others may book their own rooms at one of the following hotels, where we have secured room blocks. You may also consult IPAM’s Hotel Page for other options. We recommend you book your hotel early, as there a campus-wide event for prospective students on Saturday, April 11.
Successful applicants (and all other conference attendees) will pay a modest registration fee upon registering. Applicants will receive registration and payment instructions from IPAM. Program Email: lat2015@ipam.ucla.edu
