Sharing your findings with others in the academic community and the general public is an essential component of research experience and applied learning. Common formats for disseminating information include books, peer-reviewed journal articles, oral presentations, and poster presentations. Student scholars have opportunities to showcase their research projects all over the country.
Conferences can range in theme by specific academic disciplines or focus on single topics such as advancement in higher education or professional development. Select a conference that is right for you but make sure to consult with your faculty mentor and the UROC staff members. Below are some ideas to help you get started.

UROC Scholars Conference Travel and Campus Visits
Students participating in one of UROC's sponsored research training programs are eligible for funding to attend research conferences or visit potential graduate universities.
Student participants in the following programs are eligible: CAMP, UC LEADS, MARC, USDA HSI, PG&E Engineering Scholars and Pre-Health Scholars. Eligible students have funding for up to $1,000 for participation in any of the following events:
- Professional conference in your discipline
- Professional conference promoting diversity in graduate education or professional advancement
- Visit to a university campus to meet with a potential faculty mentor for graduate school (must have evidence of faculty invitation and receive prior approval from program coordinator)
To be eligible for conference travel, students must have written verification that their funded research project was accepted to be presented at the professional conference. All travel must have prior written approval from the student’s faculty mentor and the student's program coordinator.
