The Summer Research Program in Genomics (SRPG)
The 2015 Application for the Summer Research Program in Genomics is now available.
The Summer Research Program in Genomics, funded by the National Human Genome Research Institute, is designed for underrepresented minority undergraduate students with a commitment to research and an interest in genomics. The program has a strong record of success in helping students to nurture their passion for research and succeed in graduate school and scientific careers. Students spend the summer performing original computational or experimental-based research in labs across the Broad Institute’s research areas, from cancer to infectious disease to computational biology. At the program’s conclusion, students deliver oral and poster presentations on their research projects.
The program features a rich curriculum outside the lab that emphasizes career development. This includes an intensive weekly scientific communication course, faculty seminars by leading scientists in biomedicine, a two-day GRE prep course, and a series of workshops designed to prepare students for the graduate school application process.
Features of the program:
· nine-week paid internship ($4,250 for the summer)
· paid housing and travel expenses
· travel sponsorship to participate in a national conference

· team-building and social events in the dynamic, historic Boston area
Eligibility:
· must belong to a designated underrepresented minority group (American Indian or Alaska Native, black or African American, Hispanic or Latino, and Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, or an individual with a disability)
· must be enrolled in a four-year college for Fall 2015
· must major in physical, biological or computer sciences, engineering, or mathematics
· must have a minimum 3.2 GPA
· must be a US citizen or permanent resident
