The University of Virginia School of Medicine offers summer research internship opportunities to qualified college undergraduates considering a career in biomedical research. The program targets, but is not limited to, racially and ethnically diverse students in their junior and senior years. Interns receive $4,683 toward summer expenses. In addition, housing and travel to and from Charlottesville are provided.

The University of Tennessee Knoxville Department of Biochemistry and Cellular and Molecular Biology Sensing and Signaling in Biological Systems Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) The BCMB Department at UT-Knoxville will once again offer a special REU program for undergraduates interested in hands-on scientific research experience. The broad focus is on Sensing and Signaling in Biological Systems. The team of REU faculty represent multiple modern scientific disciplines including cell biology, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, physical chemistry, and computational biology.
The goal of SURF is to give 75 students an intensive, 10-week research experience in a world class research environment. Students immerse themselves in the laboratory and work on individual research projects with UT Southwestern Graduate School faculty.
The University of Maryland, College Park is the flagship campus in the University of Maryland system and is home to first-class researchers and research facilities. The university’s location, just nine miles from downtown Washington, D.C. and approximately 30 miles from Baltimore, provides access to some of the finest libraries, research centers, and professional opportunities in the country.
The Office of Undergraduate Research at the University of Missouri (MU) coordinates a number of summer research programs for undergraduates enrolled at other institutions. All programs run for 9 weeks (Tuesday, June 2 - Friday, July 31), with travel days being Monday, June 1 and Saturday, August 1. Students selected for these programs live in on-campus, air-conditioned housing (double rooms), and receive a meal plan, covered by the program. Summer interns also receive one hour of academic/research credit, travel to and from Columbia, and a stipend of $3600.
The University of California, Santa Barbara Interdisciplinary PhD Training Program on Network Science and Big Data (funded by an NSF IGERT Grant) is now accepting PhD applications for the 2015 academic year.
Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP)
Program Purpose
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign offers a summer research program that provides undergraduate students from populations underrepresented in graduate study at Illinois with an opportunity to explore careers in research. The program at Illinois provides each student with an experience that will help strengthen his or her knowledge, skills, and understanding of graduate school.
The program dates for 2015 are Monday, June 1, 2015 through Friday, July 31, 2015.
